Confirmation Mass will be held on January 13, 2026 at 5:30 PM at St. Mary's Cathedral (1715 NW Davis Street; Portland, OR 97209).
Confirmandi and their Sponsors are asked arrive between 4:45 PM and 5:00 PM.

- Girls are to wear a white/ivory (or mostly white/ivory) dress. Shoulders should be covered. The dress should not be shorter than knee length or have a low neckline.
- Boys are to wear a dark or neutral-colored suit with a white button-up shirt. A sports coat or blazer with dress slacks are also acceptable.
- Christ the King will provide red boutonnieres for the Confirmandi.

To register for Confirmation classes at Christ the King, you must:
Be a parishioner at Christ the King for at least one year prior to enrollment
Be at least 12 years old by September 1, 2026.
Have received the sacrament of Baptism
Be in good standing with the Catholic Church (attend mass on Sundays and regularly receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Communion).
Complete and submit the Confirmation Registration Form no later than September 14, 2025
Pay the $150 Confirmation Fee (list your child’s name in the “Memo” line.
Attend all classes from September 2026 to April 2027
Attend the Confirmation Retreat on January 8-10, 2026
Attend Confirmation Rehearsal

No child will be refused Confirmation for lack of financial resources. Please contact Miriam Coskey at [email protected] to make alternative arrangements.

This year we are running a program that blends Alpha Youth with a YDisciple course on the Holy Spirit.

At Confirmation, we recommit to participate in the Church’s work and mission. Confirmation prepares us to “bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds” CCC 1316. Consistent with the Church’s teaching, we want those Confirmed to continue bearing witness to the faith by sharing their challenges and triumphs of living out their faith with their community. Remember, Confirmation is not the end of your child’s spiritual development, it is a commission to live out our faith in the world.

Must be at least 16 years of age at the time of Confirmation
Must be a Catholic who has received Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist
Must lead a life of faith keeping with the dignity of the office of sponsor
Must not be bound by any canonical penalty legitimately imposed or declared
Must not be the father or mother of the confirmand
To emphasize the unity of the sacraments of baptism and confirmation, it is appropriate that the sponsor be one of the baptismal godparents. CCC 1311.

Sponsors are expected to attend select classes with the confimandi prior to and after the confirmation.

Sponsors must complete the Sponsor’s Registration Form and upload the Sponsor’s Affirmation Letter signed by the Sponsor’s pastor no later than October 18, 2026.

We ask that the Confirmand and their families prioritize Confirmation preparation above all other extracurricular activities. However, we understand that there may be extenuating circumstances or previously scheduled engagements. As such, each Confirmand may miss one session before Confirmation, and one session after Confirmation, but s/he will be expected to attend a make-up session with one of our group leaders.

The Confirmation Retreat is a three-day, two-night off-site retreat. It will take place on January 8-10, 2026 at Aldersgate Retreat Center.
