Confirmation Mass will be held on January 13, 2026 at 5:30 PM at St. Mary's Cathedral in Downtown Portland.

To register for Confirmation classes at Christ the King, you must:
Be a parishioner at Christ the King for at least one year prior to enrollment
Be at least 12 years old by September 1, 2025.
Have received the sacrament of Baptism
Be in good standing with the Catholic Church (attend mass on Sundays and regularly receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Communion).
Complete and submit the Confirmation Registration Form no later than September 14, 2025
Pay the $150 Confirmation Fee (list your child’s name in the “Memo” line)
Register for the Confirmation Course on Moodle
Attend all classes from September 2025 to April 2026
Complete all assignments
Attend the Confirmation Retreat on January 23-25, 2025
Attend Confirmation Rehearsal

Long-distance Sponsors will be expected to register for the Confirmation Course on Moodle and participate in discussions virtually.

No child will be refused Confirmation for lack of financial resources. Please contact Kim Le at [email protected] to make alternative arrangements.

At Confirmation, we recommit to participate in the Church’s work and mission. Confirmation prepares us to “bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds” CCC 1316. Consistent with the Church’s teaching, we want those Confirmed to continue bearing witness to the faith by sharing their challenges and triumphs of living out their faith with their community. Remember, Confirmation is not the end of your child’s spiritual development, it is a commission to live out our faith in the world.

Must be at least 16 years of age at the time of Confirmation
Must be a Catholic who has received Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist
Must lead a life of faith keeping with the dignity of the office of sponsor
Must not be bound by any canonical penalty legitimately imposed or declared
Must not be the father or mother of the confirmand
To emphasize the unity of the sacraments of baptism and confirmation, it is appropriate that the sponsor be one of the baptismal godparents. CCC 1311.

Sponsors are expected to attend classes with the Confirmandi, beginning October 19, 2025, and participate in the forum discussions with Confirmandi.
Sponsors are encouraged, but not required, to attend classes prior to October 19, 2025 and after Confirmation.
Sponsors will attend two mandatory training sessions in addition to the Confirmation Rehearsal, and Confirmation mass.
The first session will be on October 19, 2025 at 8:30 AM.
The second session is planned for January 2026. We will release additional information when it is available.

Sponsors must complete the Sponsor’s Registration Form and upload the Sponsor’s Affirmation Letter signed by the Sponsor’s pastor no later than October 18, 2025.

We ask that the Confirmand and their families prioritize Confirmation preparation above all other extracurricular activities. However, we understand that there may be extenuating circumstances or previously scheduled engagements. As such, each Confirmand may miss one session before Confirmation, and one session after Confirmation, but s/he will be expected to attend a make-up session with one of our group leaders.

The Confirmation Retreat is a three-day, two-night off-site retreat for Confirmandi only. It will take place on January 9-11, 2026. We will release details as soon we have finalized the information.

Yes! Our parish is excited to celebrate the Confirmation of our youth. Details about the party will be released at a later time.

Great question! Classes are starting points for continued prayerful discussions at home. We will help to facilitate these discussions through use of our Moodle Classroom. It is important to remember that Confirmation is not the end of your child’s spiritual development. It is a commissioning to live out our faith in the world!
