Baptism information
Baptism Preparation for Parents and Godparents
A Baptism Preparation Class is required Class will be scheduled based on availability in the Parish Office, Padre Pio Room
The next class will be on Saturday, November 8th from 9:30 AM-1:30 PM (Snacks will be provided) Register your child for baptism online here.
Baptisms will be scheduled for after the 11 am Sunday Mass.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PARENTS:
At least one parent must be Catholic and both parents willing to raise the child in the Catholic faith.
Be an active member at Christ the King (registered, participating in Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, signed up for regular giving, and married in the Church).
Attend a mandatory Baptism Preparation Class. It is not necessary to wait until the birth of your child. The class will be held on a Saturday beginning at 9:30 AM, with three sessions and breaks, ending at 1:30 PM. Please provide child care. If this is an issue, please contact us.
We are using the REBORN program by the Augustine Institute found on FORMED.org
REQUIREMENTS FOR GODPARENTS:
The Church requires only one Catholic godparent.
The godparent must be a practicing Catholic, living the faith, and participating at Mass every Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation.
The godparent must be at least 16 years of age, Baptized and Confirmed.
If not registered members of Christ The King, shall supply a letter (on parish letterhead) from pastor verifying they are Confirmed members of the Catholic Church in good standing and attend weekly Mass and Holy Days of Obligation.
If they cannot attend the class, they must take an online certification course with Ascension Press, ascensionpress.com, titled “Belonging; Baptism in the Family of God.”
